HIMSS24 APAC Health Conference & Exhibition, Asia’s largest healthcare IT conference, will be held at COEX in Seoul from Oct.1 to 4, bringing together digital transformation experts across the region.
The event comes when Korea’s world-class healthcare technology and infrastructure make it a prime location for the event, making it a great place to network and collaborate with the global healthcare community, organizers said Monday.
As a result, attention is being paid to Korean speakers who will participate in the HIMSS24 APAC
HIMSS24 APAC’s organizing committee comprising 13 healthcare experts from the Asia-Pacific region said it had finalized the speaker lineup and detailed program to lead the future of digital healthcare.
The organizing committee is co-chaired by Kim Kyung-hwan, director of the Convergence Technology Institute at Seoul National University Hospital, and Lee Pung-ryeol, director of the Digital Innovation Promotion Corps at Samsung Medical Center.
According to the detailed program released by HIMSS24 APAC, Lee Hyung-chul, deputy chief information officer at Seoul National University Hospital, will present “Implementing AI in Healthcare” on Oct. 2. He will discuss how large language models (LLMs) can be utilized in the healthcare environment and the importance of multimodal models in healthcare AI. This will be an opportunity to learn about the approach to AI, the hottest topic in healthcare, being implemented at Seoul National University Hospital, organizing officials said.
Kakao Healthcare CEO Hwang Hee, a leading healthcare IT expert in Korea, and Cha Dong-cheol, head of the Medical Innovation Center at NAVER Healthcare Research Institute, will join the speaker group. They will discuss in-depth the differentiated approaches and roles of the two companies as they expand the digital healthcare space based on AI.
Kakao Healthcare recently launched “Pasta,” an AI-based mobile blood sugar management service, while NAVER is focusing on developing AI-based solutions to streamline the work of medical staff.
On Oc. 3, Dr. Cha Won-cheol, head of the Center for Digital Innovation Promotion at Samsung Medical Center, and Park Han, head of the Digital Health Team at Samsung Electronics, will be co-keynote speakers.
Under the theme of “Smart Hospital Revolution: Redefining Patient Care with Technology,” Samsung’s experts will introduce the vision of Samsung Health and cooperation plans to expand the digital ecosystem.
Other speakers will include global leaders rarely seen in Korea, including those representing the Mayo Clinic, one of the world’s top hospitals, the health ministry officials from Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and Singapore, and iMeway, a Chinese EMR company that supports the digital transformation of hospitals and healthcare organizations through its iMedical platform.
Pre-registration for the HIMSS24 APAC is now open on its official website, and the detailed program and speakers can be found on it. Those interested in sponsor participation (booth) inquiries could contact the HIMSS APAC Secretariat, Messe Esang.
Meanwhile, the event will be held simultaneously with the 11th KHF 2024 (International Hospital & Health Tech Fair), the largest digital healthcare expo in Korea. Experts expect it to be an opportunity to explore cooperation between hospitals worldwide and establish partnerships with global IT companies.
