The “Arab Health 2025,” recognized as one of the world’s top three medical device exhibitions, will feature an extensive lineup of South Korean artificial intelligence (AI) healthcare companies. Riding the wave of recent successes in the Middle East, these companies plan to leverage Arab Health to expand their foothold in the region.

According to industry sources on Jan. 22, Arab Health will be held for four days from Jan. 27 to 30 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Celebrating its 50th anniversary, this year’s Arab Health will host more than 3,400 medical device and healthcare companies from 180 countries.

Traditionally, the German exhibition “Medica,” held in Düsseldorf, has been regarded as the largest global medical device fair. However, with the increasing interest of affluent Middle Eastern buyers backed by substantial oil revenues, Arab Health has emerged as a key event for showcasing trends in the digital healthcare industry. Middle Eastern countries, led by their governments, are actively adopting advanced technologies in healthcare. Saudi Arabia, for instance, is pursuing the “Healthcare Sandbox” project as part of its national strategic initiative, Vision 2030, to drive digital innovation in healthcare. South Korean companies, including Lunit and Vuno, are participating in this initiative. In the UAE, Dubai has included pharmaceuticals and medical devices as one of six key manufacturing sectors to foster under its “Dubai Industrial Strategy 2030.”

Industry-wide assessments indicate that South Korean medical AI products are particularly well-received in the Middle East. A representative from the medical AI industry explained, “While U.S. and European products offer excellent performance, their high price points are a disadvantage. South Korean products, on the other hand, are praised in the Middle East for their competitive pricing and advanced AI technology.”

Arab Health also serves as a gateway for expanding into the Middle Eastern market. Waycen, a medical technology company that has developed an AI-based precision medical platform for the entire cancer life cycle, secured a strategic sales contract with Saudi Arabia’s “Megamind” during last year’s Arab Health event. The deal was initiated when Megamind proactively approached Waycen’s booth. Expectations for Waycen’s success are high, as the company was recently selected as the first South Korean firm to receive investment from the Saudi Fund, a fully state-funded entity. A Waycen representative stated, “We plan to actively promote our solutions to create synergy with our partners and are also seeking additional partners to expand our business in the UAE.”

Expansion into the Middle East serves as a stepping stone for broadening business operations to Europe and Africa. DeepNoid, which established a Dubai branch last year, is accelerating its market entry in the region. A DeepNoid official stated, “The establishment of the Dubai branch is not only aimed at entering the Middle Eastern market but also serves as a strategic move for expanding into Europe and the United States.”

Other South Korean medical AI companies are also ramping up efforts to penetrate the Middle Eastern market. Vuno will showcase its AI-powered solution, “VUNO Med-DeepCARS,” which predicts the risk of cardiac arrest, in the Middle East for the first time at this year’s Arab Health event. By focusing on promoting and selling DeepCARS, Vuno is actively seeking new revenue opportunities. Neurophet, which specializes in AI-based diagnostics for brain disorders such as Alzheimer’s, will participate in Arab Health for the first time this year. A Neurophet representative remarked, “Our primary goal is to establish a foothold in the Middle Eastern market through Arab Health. We aim to identify new local distributors through meetings with regional buyers.”
