Update on Dog Found Living in Hospital Patient’s Abandoned Car Has People So Emotional
After a man was forced to check himself into the hospital for a medical emergency, his dog was left stranded in his car. Though hospital staff regularly checked on the pooch, it was clear that this situation was not going to resolve itself on its own, and a rescue organization stepped in, miraculously finding a way to help this dog and his very sick person in an extremely trying time.
For Scooter, a sweet mixed breed dog, his dad Enrique and the car they both lived in were his whole world. But when Enrique had to go to the emergency room, there was no one who could look after Scooter. The two of them were on their own, living in a car, and it was not a great place for poor Scooter to be staying.

A Dog in Need
Even though the hospital was checking on Scooter every day, they saw things were getting dire, and Enrique was in critical care with a stroke. He would not be checking out of the hospital any time soon, and had no friends who could look after the dog.
Fortunately, a dog rescue that specializes in senior dogs like Scooter, Frostedfaces, was able to come in with OC Animal Car to rescue Scooter and get him some much-needed vet treatment, Just like his dad, Scooter was suffering from some medical concerns and is currently quarantined and undergoing treatment for a respiratory infection.
But though things have been rough for this dog, he’s still in good spirits, with a lovable disposition and a wish for himself and his dad to “get well soon.”
If you wish to donate to the medical care of Scooter and dogs like him, Frosted Faces does accept donations.
What to Do With Your Pet When You’re Sick
For a lot of people, the question of what will happen to their beloved animals when they become too old and too sick to care for them is a pressing matter. Some people even decline seeking out necessary care because there are so few options available for the special, furry friends in their lives. It’s a pressing matter, and one that some charities are trying to tackle head on, by providing temporary and emergency foster care for pets due to their humans’ hospitalization or housing status, or helping seniors find loving homes for their dogs.
In some districts, animal services have even partners with organizations that provide respite housing and fosters for pets in need, so loving pet parents don’t have to permanently surrender their animals in a housing, health, or employment emergency. They know that times can be tough, and worrying about your animals is a stressor that only makes decisions all the more heartbreaking.
We wish the best to Scooter and Enrique in their mutual recovery.
